Register

This practical seminar focuses on leadership and team aspects of modern project management (traditional, agile and hybrid). Projects are social systems. Understanding and designing them is crucial for the success of a project. Therefore, this seminar focuses on your social skills as well as your team and leadership skills. The training is suitable for preparation for certification according to IPMA®.

From professionals for professionals

Our trainers have many years of practical experience in the implementation of complex projects. Use their experience and knowledge for the successful handling of your own projects.

On the subject

Do you still work in a group or already in a team? Can critical topics be addressed in your project, or is everyone nice to each other? Successful teams have a high level of social competence of all participants with regard to communication, the design of (intercultural) cooperation, motivation or team dynamics. In many organizations, project work is not a formal, but an informal management task. Another focus is on the design of leadership and the clarification of roles. Cooperation must also be optimised, e.g. with the "Radical Collaboration" approach. Project work is a conflict-exposed activity that always brings about change. Therefore, conflict management and dealing with change round off the content of this seminar.

Target audience

People from private and public organisations of all sizes and from all sectors who work on a project as subject matter experts or project managers, regardless of whether the project is handled in an agile, traditional or hybrid way. You already have experience in project work and have attended the seminar "Project Management – Methodology and Tools" or an equivalent training.

Your benefit

  • You will develop and design a personal project landscape based on stakeholder management approaches
  • You learn to define and implement your leadership role in the best possible way
  • You create freedom for your management responsibility by means of delegation
  • Using the Belbin® Team Role Model you identify the strengths and weaknesses of your project organization
  • You create a working environment that enables motivation, creativity and personal responsibility
  • You recognise resistance and conflicts and can work on them effectively
  • You will get to know the essential differences between the organizations of agile, traditional and hybrid projects
  • You are prepared for IPMA Level D, C and B certification with regard to the competence areas of people and perspective

Benefits for your company

  • The project teams learn to take personal responsibility and to be able to act, and thus to escalate fewer problems
  • Better success rate in challenging projects, which are particularly sensitive to social complexity
  • Better management of social risk factors

Contents

  • Stakeholder management and force field analysis
  • Cooperation in interdisciplinary and intercultural teams
  • Managing employees correctly according to the situation
  • Conducting conversations and chairing meetings
  • Effective cooperation
  • Design of project roles based on the Belbin® team roles
  • Conflict management
  • Logic and Psychology of change processes

Methods

The seminar conveys the contents on the basis of short presentations on the background as well as practical examples. The important topics are worked out and deepened in small groups. You can also contribute your own project situations. You are expected to be willing to actively deal with the topic on both a factual and a personal level.

Our recommendation

By attending the seminar "Methodology and Tools" or an equivalent seminar you are optimally prepared for this training.

IPMA Certification

The internationally recognized certifications in project management according to the IPMA® guidelines demonstrate mastery of the three competence areas of practice, people and perspective. The attendance of the two seminars "Methodology and Tools" and "Leadership and Team" provides an ideal basis for successful certification according to the current IPMA Individual Competence Baseline (ICB4). The book "Project Management Handbook", Springerverlag covers all relevant topics for IPMA certification. The selection and immersion of the topics in the two seminars is based on the requirements of IPMA®.

Are you still working in a group or already in a team? Can critical issues be addressed in your project, or are they all nice to each other? The successful team can not be "made" by project leaders or scrum masters. Much more they rely on a high social competence of all parties involved, in terms of communication, the design of (intercultural) cooperation, motivation or team dynamics. Another focus is on conflict management. Project work is a conflict-exposed activity and a problem of conflicts is that they are prematurely personalized. Through a careful conflict diagnosis, you learn to differentiate between cause and symptom and to process it purposefully.
